Always Moving Forward
Always Moving Forward
With the new year beginning, one tends to see possibilities. You are willing to start new things, say goodbye to outdated beliefs, and choose to begin again. But I think you should look at each day as an opportunity to start fresh, not just in January. The new year allows hope to rise from within and inspiration to take hold.
Or maybe you see the new year with apprehension. You may question your resolve to move forward in the direction you desire. Perhaps you feel you are not sticking to the new habits you’re trying to form or completing the items you want to clear out of the way.
Clearing your mind from the clutter of the ego is an essential step for you to take so you can see new beginnings all around you. Each morning, the Universe allows you to do better than yesterday. So take this occasion to empower yourself to do just what you desire. As you do this each day, you create the life you’ve dreamed of having.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again. ~ Buddha
Have you heard the saying, “new year, new you?” But why? What’s wrong with who you are? I’m not saying you shouldn’t grow and become more authentically you, but who you are has always been present. Just because you were hiding it under masks and armor doesn’t mean it needs to become “new.” Just come out of the darkness and into the light.
Your life is precious. And the world needs who you authentically are with your unique gifts and talents. You were created to be here now and help the community you’re in to overcome.
So, a fresh beginning for your authentic self is a great starting place. You do this by getting quiet and listening to the whispers of your soul. The more in tune you are with your soulful self, the easier it will be for you to begin again. And to start fresh tomorrow.
When you are aligned with your authentic self, all the best of you shines.
This authentic you will let go of the past because it’s not where you’re going. You forgive yourself and others because you know it frees you from the ego’s bondage to keep you stuck in places you don’t want to be.
Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go. They merely determine where you start. ~ Nido Qubein
Remember, all growth and your dreams are on the other side of your comfort zone. What does this mean? Well, it means that you’ll be uncomfortable as you leave your well-known environment for you to reach your dreams. Therefore, you will have to try new ways of doing things, reach out to new people, and look at situations from a different perspective. Otherwise, the change you want can’t occur.
Be prepared for your ego to begin its rant about why you shouldn’t take the chance on the opportunity in front of you. Or the lies it has told you in the past of how things didn’t go as you had hoped on other occasions. Keep in mind that the past isn’t a sign of the future.
Yes, you may have doubts, and others may discourage you because they want to protect you, but turn to your tribe for support. Believe in yourself. Remember, your vision for your life was given to you, no one else. Others are also afraid of change, but don’t let their fear influence how you move forward.
Get quiet. Go within and listen to the whispers of your heart that are encouraging you to move forward and trust your soulful self to lead you.
I hope you realize that every day is a fresh start for you. That every sunrise is a new chapter in your life waiting to be written. ~ Juansen Dizon
Change of any kind requires you to take action towards your goals. And some steps you take to move you forward and others sideways, and yet others backward, but they are all movements. The more effort you put forth, the more likely you will take a misstep. Something you try won’t work out as you had hoped. This uncertain time is where perseverance comes in.
When you take a misstep, you have to realize what didn’t work and figure out how to overcome whatever the obstacle is. Being persistent is not something the egoic mind is natural at doing. It’s more of a quitter. It doesn’t like to work through something because it feels the circumstances are unfair.
But to improve the situation and be a success requires you to realize that you have blank pages to write your story as you wish. That’s what each new day, each beginning, allows you to do. So, are you taking each of these opportunities and using them to your advantage? Or are you wallowing in yesterday’s events instead of being determined to overcome?
Persistence comes through your grit, willpower, and self-discipline. But, fortunately, all the things you require come from within you- none of them can you get from outside of yourself. So dig deep, get up, and begin again.
Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. ~ Seneca
Many people are narrow in their focus. And for projects, this can be a good thing, but you need to see the big picture of living your life. With new beginnings come endings and loss. And those change who you are. This loss requires you to reflect on how the big picture is affected. It alters perspective.
Here are some questions to reflect on in your journal:
Don’t be concerned about the details. Instead, get the broad strokes, the big picture you want to envision.
Consider what you may need to prune during this season. Pruning is the practice of handpicking parts that could be trimmed so they grow better. What portions of your life are not thriving? Sometimes thinning out makes life more pleasing and balanced.
Contemplate the clutter in your life and within your mind. As you reflect on the new beginnings you want to take, make sure to declutter those areas of your life that keep clarity from coming through to the forefront of your mind.
Be willing to be a beginner every single morning. ~ Meister Eckhart
To begin fresh, one must forget the past by letting it go. Remember the lessons it gave you, but release those thoughts and reactions that no longer serve you. Then forgive yourself and others for the missteps. Forgiveness helps to liberate you from the bondage of the egoic mind.
Next, accept what is. Then, as you admit the truth of the current situation, you stop the struggle against the Universal flow. Acceptance allows peace to rise from within you. A calm will wash over you, and anxiety disappears. Now you’re free to see the positive aspects of your life with a clear perspective. You start to understand how you got to this place and ways for you to move forward.
Now, it’s time to take action. Yes, take the chance. Follow your gut. Make the efforts towards obtaining your goals and living the life of your dreams. Expect the best outcome because you took the right action by following your heart.
Be ready to pivot and alter your direction if needed. Changing circumstances may mean a better path for you to take, so be willing to change course as needed. Be aware of the opportunities as they present themselves. Be focused on your goal but flexible about how you get there.
New beginnings happen all the time. Each new year, every month, each week, and every morning. Are you seizing the opportunities before you? The changes you make today move you forward to the success you want in your life.
The magic in new beginnings is truly the most powerful of them all. ~ Josiyah Martin
